Children's Act 38 of 2005 (s2(a)) - "To promote the preservation and strengthening of families"
DIVORCE GUIDANCE FOR CHILDREN
Separation and divorce is an extremely difficult experience for adults. For children, this is even more traumatic, and the way in which the news are conveyed to children, would have an impact on their continued processing of the information. We offer age-appropriate divorce guidance, from sharing the news to children, to explaining the practicalities surrounding a spouse that would move out, to sharing of communal property, and assisting the children to adapt to the ‘new normal’ separated households. We strive to support the children, through a process of guidance to ascertain emotional and psychological security through this difficult time.
